Dear Everybody Agreement

NT Power is pleased to announce that we have joined over 100 organizations and signed the Dear Everybody Agreement. "Dear Everybody" is a national movement launched by Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Canada’s largest rehabilitation hospital for children and youth with disabilities.

The Dear Everybody movement focuses on ending stigma and eliminating bias towards disability. 22% of Canadians suffer from a disability, which may seem like a small number, but that’s over 6.2 million people. By signing this pledge, NT Power is committing to help end the stigma towards disabilities. Disability stigma includes barriers, bias and stereotypes that affect attitudes and behaviours towards people with disabilities.

Kids and young people with disabilities routinely face the consequences of stigma – staring, whispers, name-calling, social exclusion, bullying and outright discrimination. And once they reach adulthood, statistics show young people face lower employment prospects on average compared to their peers without disabilities.

NT Power is committed to help bring about change in this area. We endeavour to make a conscious effort to use diverse brands in all media promotions and imaging we use. By signing this pledge, we are aiming to change hearts and minds about disability and more importantly, encourage people to take action to create a more inclusive, equitable society.

NT Power is an equal opportunity employer and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply for all job postings. By signing the Dear Everybody Agreement, we agree to represent people with disabilities in our media and promotions. The truth is any of us can experience a disability at any time in our lives. It is imperative that we all do our part to make society a better place for people with disabilities as it will benefit all of us.
